As the holiday hang-over runs its final course and the students pick up their pace; it is the time we employ our notepads again and avail our best penmanship to present in the most honest and pragmatic manner, the happenings within our beloved city of Amsterdam.
As a student, the sense of belonging forms an integral part of our experience of university life. Be it a sense of community, or the sense of home, in our hardships, we seek support. When facing dilemmas we look for more information to resolve them. Let it be a blissful happening, we still wish to share.
With these aspects of difficult or joyous moments, we, at The Amsterdammer aim to bring to you the best information about the city.
As they say, the new year brings a fresh start, a new semester for university students, and more opportunities, for us at The Amsterdammer, to serve our fellow students and citizens of Amsterdam, International, and Dutch alike, our best work as journalists.
So I take this opportune moment, to remember the last stanza of the popular Scots-language poem, Auld Lang Syne, by Robert Brown,
” And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
And give me a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne. “
As I say this, I urge all of our esteemed readers to join us in our re-energized, re-assembled and hopeful journey reporting the events occurring in this city of freedom (and bikes) and support our cause.
