Over 3100 participants gathered at Dam Square to see Turn on the Ligths’  11th edition last Thursday. The event, organized by De Bijenkorf, started-off the holiday season by providing a free theatrical performance of singers, musicians, actors and acrobats.

Composed especially for this edition, the musical adventure “Make Classic Fantastic” was played. CB Milton, 50, famous Dutch electronic music vocalist, and Cystine Carreon, 45, Filipino-Dutch actress mostly known for her roles in musicals, sang and told the story of “Bobbie the Bear.” The tale reminds us of nurturing what is new, maintaining what is familiar, and love, which always prevails.

The bright festive lights and tremendous installations caught many tourists’ attention.

The evening ended with a firework spectacle above De Bijenkorf building. Exceptionally, the luxury department extended its closing hours to 10pm to allow the customers start their Christmas shopping.
